PREPARING THE DIVE

The Work Package includes a first collection of key documents (e.g. global and EU policy documents on environmental sustainability and on ocean science policy), complemented by reflections on ocean science and science policy in popular science magazines and major newspapers. WP1 is supported by a 3-day conceptual workshop. The team will review the existing literature on structures and practices of science policy making relating to ocean science as well as the relevant literature in Science Policy Studies, Science and Technology Studies, and Valuation Studies.  Furthermore, we will organise two intensive ethnographic sessions in the form of a two-day conference with key representatives of marine institutes in Europe.
