CONFLUENCE

In the final part of the project, we will review and synthesize the findings of WP1-4. We will draw insights together obtained with the descriptive scientometrics, the policy analysis, and the different ethnographies. The aim is to gain new conceptual insight into the dynamics that occur when academic knowledge creation becomes (even more) subject to multiple –sometimes competing - valuation registers. The foreword to the first Global Ocean Science Report, published by Unesco in 2017, warned that “our understanding of the ocean and its contribution to sustainability largely depends on our capacity to conduct effective ocean science.” This project will contribute to an understanding of more (or less) effective transitions toward sustainable ocean science.
